Mini Cooper Maintenance
Congratulations! You're now the proud of owner of a Mini Cooper! Despite its name this tiny car packs a punch when it comes to speed, durability and style. But, as you'll soon find out, owning a Mini Cooper is a big job. This little car requires a lot of maintenance, special care and one on one attention. Owning a Mini Cooper is a lot like owning a small dog, except different. As president and CEO of the Mini Cooper Cult of America, I have a lot of experience and knowledge when it comes to owning this tiny car. At the urging of my publisher and fellow Mini Cooper owners, I'm now sharing my advice in my very own weekly column.
Small car, Big Bills
There's no better feeling in the world then getting behind the wheel of a Mini Cooper. It's truly indescribable, that is, until your cute little car is in need of certified auto repair mechanic. When your small car needs a tune up, breaks down or needs a major repair, be prepared for a big bill. We're talking astronomical bills. Here's why: small car means even smaller parts. The smaller the car parts, the more specialize equipment and molds are required to make the replacement parts. The more specialized machines, means Mini Cooper Inc. must hire more specialized auto repair mechanics to operate the equipment.
And all that costs a lot of money. In order to hire the best auto repair mechanics, Mini Cooper must recoup its costs by passing along the higher prices to its customers- that's you! This is the price you must be willing to pay if you decide to buy a Mini Cooper. For example, taking your car to a certified auto repair shop for a basic tune up will cost you about four times as it would if you owned a Ford. And if you need a major repair, like a timing belt or new transmission, you better start saving right now. However, if you find a certified German auto repair shop, you may find more reasonable auto repair mechanics and prices.
Let's face it, you didn't just buy a Mini Cooper because it gets wicked good gas mileage, has seated seats and a built in refrigerator. You're the proud owner of a Mini Cooper because it's a cool car, that makes you look even cooler. When you drive around town or take a road trip to your favorite German auto repair shop, other drivers stop and stare. When you drive slowing through a parking lot, shopping cart stop for you. When you get behind the wheel of a Mini Cooper, you have to look the part: David Beckham hair cut, aviator sun glasses and a leather jacket.
Often your certified German auto repair shop will also provide complimentary hair cuts and a Mini Cooper clothing shop. This is to ensure the Mini Cooper brand is represented well with every single car owner. If this sounds intimidating or too much work, you may need to consider owning another vehicle. If you're beginning to find owning a Mini Cooper is too high maintenance, then ask your certified auto repair mechanic for advice on another German made vehicle.
Caring for your Mini
Ask any certified German auto repair mechanic and they'll tell you a Mini Cooper will always run smoother when it's parked in a garage and covered in a fleece blanket every night. Keeping your mini warm at night, ensures it will operate in tip top shape every day. To maintain the life of the paint, you need to wash your mini every other day and wax at least once a month. A built in vacuum in the rear of your vehicle makes it easy to keep the interior looking and smelling fresh at all times. The mini manufacturer recommends having your car detailed every six month by a certified auto repair technician.
As you can see, owning and operating a Mini Cooper takes money, time and a lot of patience. If you're up for the challenge and want to look cool, you should consider investing in this fun car. But, before you sign the dotted line make sure you find a reliable, professional and certified auto repair mechanic you can trust. Your car will be in and out of the auto repair shop all the time- you need a certified mechanic who specializes in German cars and Mini Coopers.
